SCOOTER DIARIES DAY 7

Scoot, Bob and I leapt off the hill at Largo Vista around 9:30.  John had left for work at 7:30 and I was to follow around 8, but Laura and I were so engrossed in conversation in their l beautiful house looking out over lake Travis and the hill country, that I did not leave till almost 9:30.The road to Marble Falls, where their store is, was a great ride through Texas hill country with wild flowers everywhere.  At the station John and Roxine fed me and watered up Scoot with his best grade of gas and sent us on our way.  It was great to see him and Laura again.  John is going to retire so if you are in the market for a great business in Marble Falls, a great little town on the lake, give Pardners Chevron station in Marble Falls, Tx. a call.

Next stop was Fredericksburg, "a little bit of Germany right here in Texas".  Vicki and I had believed that last time we came across Texas and it was on the way to Sarge's house, so I would give it a second chance. John had given me a local map and we had plotted out a back route, but I missed the turnoff.  I eventually got back on track after passing through Johnson City home of LBJ.

Fredericksburg disappointed me again.  Just did not excite me.  Last time we had dined at a German restaurant with good food, but bad music.  The singer was from Bombay, singing country and western.  The restaurant was into outsourcing before outsourcing had caught on.  The restaurant I chose this time was a disappointment.  The staff was great, but the food was loaded with sugar.  Don't rightly remember ever having sugar in the breading on a Jagger Schnitzel. The waitress’s son, who is a ranch wrangler in Colorado, was in Ecuador roaming around and loving it.

From there it was a quick ride down to Kerrville and the home of Bobby G "Sarge" Cormack, his wife Kathy and his best friend Metzy.  For dinner we had shrimp on Bob's mobile barbie.  I think we can francise this and give the hot dog people a run for their money.

It is so great to see people sending in their money to help those less fortunate at the Escuela Bilingue los Algarrobos. You have sponsored one student to help them have a better future. We have one left that needs your help, Maikel Josue Flores Intriago. The next 350 miles are for him.
